My neighbour has some builders from Southall. This is the type of atrocious work they have produced.

And the final rubbish work

This is better quality lead work and the gable end is also better finished off.

I really enjoy kayaking and kayak camping, so I decided to create this page for kayak, canoe and camping enthusiasts. I searched online, but could not find all the information I wanted.

It will be an ongoing project, as I have only been to a few of them so far.

I will use Google Maps and Street View where possible, plus my own photos.

My Hobbies

My 9 year son and I enjoy kayaking. We go on the Thames from Spring to Autumn. We have also been out on the River Wye and up to Norfolk at Burnham Overy Staithe.

This was our first kayak. A 2 person Sevlor Yukon.

20120223-225947.jpg

We have now moved on to single kayaks. They are Advanced Elements inflatable kayaks.

20120223-230335.jpg

Advanced Elements inflatable kayaks are what my son and I now have. They handle really well, almost like a hard shell. They are much warmer in colder weather too and are very stable.

As a young child, I was brought up with classical music, as my Gran and my Mother both played the piano brilliantly. Mum often played Chopin’s Polonaise to us. My Mother also played the violin. So from an early age, classical was the only type of music we would listen to. If we listened to the radio, it would undoubtably be a classical station.

I was still listening to classical when I started secondary school. But all that was about to change. I met a couple of lifelong friends and they were, Alan Brown and Gary Homer. Well Gary introduced me to an album that would stay with me until his day and it is What’s Going on by Marvin Gave. This for me is the greatest soul album of all time. But Gary did not stop there. He also introduced me to a funk track called Sex Machine by James Brown. Yes totally different to Marvin’s soul music with its funky danceable beat.

Well Gary and I found ourselves going to our local music shop every Saturday morning in Marlow, Buckinghamshire, called Chiltern Sound to look for soul and funky music. In those days it was on vinyl EP’s and LP’s, not your CD’s that came much later and digital after that. There however was another album to come that would influence my musical taste even further. In my home of Marlow where I lived. One Saturday night, we had a disco, and at that disco, they played Movin by Brass Construction. It was ahead of its time when it was released and pushed my music taste further towards the Jazz genre.

So my history of music started in the 80’s and I’m going to list the artists and tracks that has influenced my music tastes from those early days to the present day.

Marvin Gave.
